Antioxidant present: Rosmarinic acid, which has a strongerantioxidant action than vitamin E. Rosmarinic acid is another type of phenoliccompound.

The research says: Oregano has 42 times more antioxidantactivity than an apple, 30 times more than a potato, 12 times more than anorange and four times more than blueberries. In fact, research shows that justone tablespoon of fresh oregano provides the same amount of antioxidants as a medium-sizedapple. And while all herbs contain antioxidants, three different types oforegano – Mexican, Italian and Greek – came out top in a Chinese study designedto rate 39 culinary and medicinal herbs.

Tip: Fresh is always best when it comes to herbs. Considergarlic – USDA research shows that the antioxidant activity of the fresh varietyis 1.5 times higher than dry garlic powder.
